Alice watched as Sebastian left, waiting for him to turn the corner before she relaxed her face and left out a long sigh/laugh of relief. "I do not like that man, I think," Alice immediately said then turned to Daine while she spoke. "Probably," she responded with short laugh, her smile looking natural and mischievous. She then stopped and listened, hearing the 'that' which Daine referred to.
"Yes, I hear it as well. What do you think it means?'" she asked. Alice had stopped moving in her tracks as she tried to make it out, but at the same time she knew that they should leave the area as they were a little too close to the dungeons to find a good explanation as to why. "We should get away from here," she said quietly, looking at Daine earnestly. She could not risk getting into trouble.

Daine nodded in agreement with Alice's opinion on Sebastian. She did not like that noble either... but this was most certainly not their last meeting. Daine shuddered at the thought of flirting with him again, who knows where that would lead!
"Yes, I hear it as well. What do you think it means?" Daine pondered in thought as she started to walk forward, Alice was right they should move away from the stairwell. There were no excuses, they were lucky running into Sebastian beforehand.
"It sounded male. That's all I know." Daine said honestly. She wasn't quite the detective she wished she were, or let anyone on to believe. Yes she was smart, but not that smart. She sighed, the day suddenly catching up on her. She had to return to Merton before it got too dark. Though part of her wanted to stay in the castle to see what happened this evening. They were in for quite a night.
"I think I'd best be leaving the castle. My dearest brother is probably wondering where I am." Daine said with scorn. She despised her brother, and wanted the whole world to know. "You're welcome to come eat with us. I'm sure our housemaid won't mind cooking for you. Sometimes I think she likes the extra mouths to feed."

Alice strained her ear to try and hear more, but she could not. "You think it was Gisborne?" she asked, though Alice was pretty sure she would recognize his voice anywhere. It was good to know Gisborne and the Sheriff's voices just in case so she could hear them coming. Alice walked toward the staircase with Daine, eager to peek her head out the window to see where the sun lay. It must be very close to dinner and Alice was hungry.
At the mention of Lord Merton, Alice's heart lept a little. He was quite handsome, Alice thought, though she didn't know the reasons for Daine to dislike him so much. "I would love to, if that isn't too much of an imposition," Alice said with a smile. If she were to go have dinner with the Merton's, she probably would have to quickly clean up as her appearance was a little messy.

Daine shook her head. "Definitely not Gisbourne." She murmured, to herself more than to Alice. She knew Alice knew it wasn't Gisbourne. Every noble in Nottingham knew his voice, and many had come to fear it, though not herself. There was only one man who Daine feared at the moment, and that was the Sheriff. Gisbourne may do the Sheriff's bidding, but that was all he did. Until the Sheriff ordered Gisbourne to arrest Daine or something worse, she did not fear hom.
"It's not problem, honestly." She said, whilst a questioning look crossed her face. She'd noticed Alice's slight chance in character, it was what she did best notice things. But why? What interest did she have in her brother? Of all the slimy weasels in Nottingham, Alice gets a soft spot for Daine's slimy weasel.
"C'mon, we'd best leave. I do not want to be caught down here. I think we've had enough excitement for one day." She said, thinking of Sebastian. Though her common sense caught up with her and dispelled the pesky lord from her mind. She did not like that man.

Alice turned her full attention back to Daine. "Yes, let me just go to my room quickly and then we can leave," she said. The dress she had on now was a little chilly and her cloak was not heavy enough for when she would come back later that night. Alice had to admit that she only found Lord Merton attractive as she had barely spoken to him, but she trusted Daine's opinions of people, even if she seemed a little harsh on some people.
Alice did believe in second chances and redeeming qualities. Though not for the Sheriff, or Gisborne, or the man who once broke her heart. "I think we have too," Alice agreed. She didn't want her father to know if she had been misbehaving. He would probably send her to some other castle, or even to another country. Alice wondered if her father ever loved her.

Daine nodded as she turned putting the dank corridor behind her. Why had she done it? Did she really need to know which outlaw was in custody? So she had something to talk about with her housemaid Maggie*, but did that really mean she should endanger her life? What if the Sheriff had caught them, or Gisbourne? Or what if the guards hadn't have been so willing with the flirting?
Daine shook her head, shaking the thoughts from her mind. Nottingham life wasn't about the 'what ifs' from the past, in Nottingham you had to worry about the future.
"That's understandable," she said in reply to Alice wanting to go to her room, though she did have to wonder if it was because of her brother. "I left a horse in the stables. Shall I go fetch her and a horse for you? Then meet you in the stables?"
*(Ooc - Maggie is the Merton housemaid, I need to make her an NPC... but I don't know where to say it. I know there's a Knighton hole for NPCs [cos I'm not making an account for her *too lazy*].. but yeah...)

Alice followed Daine, glad to be in a warmer part of the castle. Her curiosity was still strong, but she could abate it for awhile. She would find out sooner or later as either the news would be buzzing about it tomorrow or there would be hanging by the end of the week. Alice had just wanted to know sooner, just in case she could have helped the Outlaw, whatever she could have done. But at least nothing bad happened, and curiosity had not killed anyone, so all was well.
"That sounds like a plan. I'll have a servant prepare my horse." Alice smiled as she started walking in the direction of her room. It had not been all because of Daine's brother. Alice then went off to her room, expecting to be in the stables in less than ten minutes.
[Just post in the NPC section in the Ads board. It's ok if you don't come up with an account yet. And do you want to start a thread in Merton?]

Daine and Alice went their separate ways for the moment. Daine turning right for the stables meant she took a corridor away from the heart of the castle. A breeze whipped at her cloak, flapping around her ankles showing flashes of Daine's favoured blue gown.
The girl pulled her cloak around her tighter, hugging herself for extra warmth. Daine's long hair kept flicking her in the face and she made a mental not to tie it up before she rode out of Nottingham. To be honest she hated wearing her hair down, it just got in the way because there was so much of it! She only ever wore it down in the castle, she found it helped her to get away with much more than when she tied it up.
Upon entering the stables a stableboy showed her to her horse. Daine thanked him and asked him to prepare Alice's horse whilst she prepared her own. It'd save time. Daine really wanted to get home to the warmth.
Once her horse was readied (Ooc... *dumb moment* I spelt that right?) all she could do was wait. Sighing, she let her mind wander - thinking through a scene that could have taken place that afternoon. But everyone she thought of ended in the Sheriff finding them... which was never good.
(Ooc - A Merton thread might be good, cos my friend joined but has never RPed before.. so her character might end up as a part-time NPC (and she can only get online every other weekend or sommit :S), which is what Merton is I guess.... But I'm too tired atm and I'm going to bed. So I'll NPCify Maggie tomorrow. Night.)
