General Appearance: Like her mother and father, Nicolette's complexion is startlingly pale, making her dark eyes and hair only that much more striking. Her features are slightly angular, setting her apart from her full-figured mother and compactly-built father. In family portraits, Nicolette always stood out. With her full height coming in at a meager five feet four inches, she is painfully short.

Though her build is small, Nicolette is surprisingly wiry and athletic for one who has lived her life in luxury thus far. Unlike her parents, she never fully relished her father's success. She partook only partially in meals, and almost never used the privileges that his position allowed her. Nicolette preferred to go out and shoot pheasant, enjoying her time outside. Despite her time spent outdoors, her skin tone rarely changes from its pallid color.

Her body is mostly composed of sharp edges - jutting hipbones, an angular jawline, and a sullen expression to complete her aura of unattainability. This air of smugness permeates her very being - that is to say, when Colette walks into a room, she is not only seen, she is felt.

Personality: Nicolette is... strong willed, to say the least. She is stubborn to a fault and needlessly over-dramatic. Though she is usually quiet, when she does speak, she absolutely commands the spotlight. If all attention isn't on her, she sees no point in opening her mouth. She thrives on the admiration of others, though she likes to think she does this in a subtle, inconspicuous way.

Nicki is a startlingly suave manipulator. Her face rarely belies her words, often allowing her to get away with the most blatant of untruths. There is only fault to her seemingly perfect poker face - Nicolette unfailingly blinks three times whenever she lies, though it takes a while to catch onto her act. However, once someone realizes this, her lie will have already served its purpose.

Astonishingly enough, she takes pride in her appearance, but is not overly vain. Colette keeps council with no one, save for herself. She finds friendships an awkward thing to maintain, so she simply never presents herself as a friendly person (unless, of course, it works toward her advantage). When you act cold and despondent, people are less likely to be attracted to you.

And that suits her just fine.

Background: Nicolette was born into the lap of luxury, thanks to her father's prominent social standing and habitual hoarding of every penny he'd ever managed to earn. Colette rarely thanked her parents, as she simply believed that she was somehow entitled to it all. In time she began to take her father's money for granted, and a slow-brewing hatred grew within her parents' hearts.

Her older brother, four years her senior, had been kidnapped and presumed dead since before she was born. During a late-night carriage ride after returning from a social obligation, the family's transportation had been held up by a group of rouges. After taking her mother's jewels and everything else of value they could possibly get their hands on, they stole away her then two year old brother as well.

When she was a young girl, her father caught a wolf pup in a bear trap he'd set on the outskirts of her manor. Stricken by the beastly wound to its front paw, the poor pup lay caught in its metal grip and unable to move. Colette begged her father to release it and let her care for it, and unable to resist her pleading, he did just that. Nicolette raised the wolf to maturity and kept him as a pet, affixing to the now named Enfilade a heavy leather collar.

Colette continued to live her life in a solitary splendor, enjoying the perks of her father's labor and lounging around her family's estate. When she turned eighteen, her mother pushed her on every possible suitor. Each of them found her "endearing," as they later wrote, but "too independent" or "reserved."

Nicki succeeded in driving away every one of her pursuers, but the following year a scruffy young man showed up at the doorstep and threw her life for a loop. Jacques, home after many years, had come home once again. He'd fallen in with a bad group, as after having taken the baby Jacques they'd pushed him onto the wife of younger man in the group. Raised with criminals, he knew no better until he'd heard of the Fontaine family and felt a pulling at his heartstrings.

Her parents, sick of Nicolette lying around and being a dead weight to their fortune, allowed her a limited amount of money and named Jacques as the rightful heir. Fed up with her family and life in general, Nicolette relocated to England to live on her own at a modest cottage her father typically used when he was in England on business. After months of no contact, and with only her darling Enfilade for company, her parents sent a letter conveying that they would allow her a minimal amount of spending money each month, but that they would no longer associate her directly with the Fontaine name.

Anything else: Has a quaint little wolfy companion. He mostly keeps to himself and is generally a goodnatured fellow, unless of course Nicolette is in danger.
