Vaysey was angry. Enraged. Infuriated. Completely and utterly fuming, all because of that dratted Robin Hood and his little gang of miscreants. Once again they had ruined his plans - his plans, and he'd been so close this time! - and not only made him a laughing stock among the other Black Knights, but they'd caused Prince John to lose faith in him.
And that hurt. He'd lost land, he'd lost influence, and he'd lost a great deal of dignity.
He was going to make Hood pay; he just had to figure out what would hurt him most. Besides the obvious, of course; if he could simply get hold of Marian, he'd be fine, but the loss of her possession made things a little difficult in that area.
He contemplated getting his hands on Allan - he wanted to silence him, lest he reveal any of his secrets to the Outlaws (and he was certain that Allan knew something of importance, but couldn't remember if he'd told him it or not) but dismissed it. Focus on Hood, first.
Idly he wondered where Gisborne was. He considered sending for him, ordering him to round up a few peasants for some sport, but decided against it. Perhaps he'd wander down to the prison and see if there was anyone worth bothering with down there...
Eventually, still pacing in his room, he decided to go and visit Knighton, see if he couldn't play Hunt the Outlaw. Who knew, if he was lucky he might find a new toy...
