the skyline of nottingham was dark the night a caravan fit for a king pulled away from the cities outer walls. the caravan was unnoticed by the citizens who were already fast asleep, and yet guilt dug into king richard as he sped out of the city. he was called for a greater purpose, for the crusade and though it killed king richard to leave his people to the clutches of two arrogant and pompous men he had no other choice. the crusade needed a leader and he was to be that leader, even if it led him to his death. so before he snuck away in his caravan to go to battle the king called upon his brother prince john of england and another nobleman sir guy of gisbourne to come and take of the control of nottingham. and this is where the story really begins...
it has now been several months since the disappearance of the king, and nottingham is suffering. with prince john sitting pretty with the large amount of gold and possessions he has stolen from the poor by taxing them all to death. meanwhile guy of gisborne has been struggling with a certain ex-nobleman but before details are released on that a tale of the passed few months must be told to show how nottingham came to this state.
this ex-nobleman spoken of is actually the son of a nobleman, sadly a deceased nobleman. robin of locksley was wrongfully arrested after his father's death but as a swift and mischievous young man robin escaped only to find himself crossing the paths of bandits in sherwood forest. sherwood was never a safe place for noblemen and since this band of bandits recognized robin as robin of locksley they demanded a tax for crossing the river but robin made a deal he was to fight any one of the bandits and if he won he would go freely. in a match against the bandits' leader 'little john' who was anything but little robin found himself the victor. after being invited back to the bandits camp, robin found himself talking to them about the cruel ways of guy and john. robin wanted revenge on guy who had killed his father and the men wanted revenge on john who had taken their land an all their belongings. they banded together and soon became known as 'robin hood and the merry men'. they stole from the rich and gave to the poor. now along the way the merry men ran into an old friend of robin's; maid marian the daughter of the sheriff of nottingham. robin and her were childhood rivals and sweethearts and that is why she became the first woman ( other than alan-a-dale's wife ) to come to their camp in sherwood. life was perfect until prince john got sick of robin stealing from him so he sent an army to find the camp and he did. the whole place was burned, many were killed and marian brought back to the castle by her own father.
so there is the story, guy of gisbourne, the sheriff, and prince john alike are mad they didn't get every single last person of robin and his merry men but they intend on killing them off one by one if they must. there is a price on robin's head and now it is clearly a war. though robin might've been safe in sherwood, he wants to rescues marian from her father so he is planning to steal her back. of course everyone is taking their sides, the people are with robin but the nobles are torn. some are with robin and some are with guy and prince john. the nobles really hold the power, but most of them are waiting out on king richard's return because they know he could fix this. but as for now this war wages on and that sound in the night ‘its not a cry’ but the slicing sound of arrows coming in to bring justice to those who had it taken away.
this version of robinhood is unlike any other. it's a bit of everything, from the original story, to the movie versions, to the television show on bbc but mostly its a bunch of artistic variations from the minds of the administrative team who run 'its not a cry' from three times broken productions.
