I knew the mob wouldn't go down without a fight. But this is different. They crossed the line.
The city of Gotham had long been ruled by the corrupt, until he showed up, a mask vigilante determined to take justice into his own hands. For the people of Gotham, he was a symbol of hope. For the mob bosses, he was a menace. If crimelords hoped to keep control of Gotham, they would have to change their tactics, and an offer from a deranged outlaw was too good to pass up.
You crossed the line first, sir. You squeezed them, you hammered them. And in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand.
But the mob bosses of Gotham had no idea the new terror they were unleashing through their hired hitman, The Joker. A new reign took over in Gotham, not of crime, but of fear. The Joker wasn't like the criminals who had plagued Gotham before. They could be rationalized, intimidated, or paid off. This new breed of criminal was something else, a madman, a dog chasing cars. And it did more than just frighten the citizens of Gotham; it shook their savior.
Some men aren't looking for anything logical. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
In the new era of Gotham's struggle with crime, the citizens will have to learn to trust again the symbol of their former hope. With their hero Harvey Dent out of commission, and their masked protector, Batman, accused of betraying all their trust, Gotham must make their own way. Will they rise above, or ultimately become victims of the Ghouls of Gotham
