X-Men :: Power Isn't Everything
This is an intermediate movie-verse RPG set in the aftermath of X:2. It is AU after this point.
For decades, mutants have been hiding, fleeing, praying for the day that they can walk amongst humans without fear of persecution, without fear of being mauled in the streets by angry protesters, bigots, the normal people. Unfortunately, the recent events at Alkali Lake have made things worse.
The Friends of Humanity, a newly formed public body, have effectively declared war on mutants. They are being turned out of their homes, beaten, robbed, and even occasionally murdered. These humans claim superiority and want their planet back for themselves, wish to be rid of the mutant race. They want a cure, or they want genocide.
And everyone has had enough.
Magneto has publicly broadcast his intentions to create a haven for mutants by any means possible, and he fully intends for that sanctuary to be the United States. Many of those prosecuted flock to his banner, feeling stronger in the vast numbers, ready to take back what they deserve from the masses who have denied them their humanity.
Meanwhile, Xavier fights to calm parents and instill hope and goodwill in his students, despite the despairing atmosphere left behind both by Jean's death and the recent push against mutants. Many have left the building, hidden away by their parents, while others have left in disgust, joining Magneto in his cause.
The government, while afraid of mutants, is struggling to agree on what to do. The current administration wants to find a way to bring about harmony and is trying hard to keep things peaceful, but a secret faction is working behind the scenes, manipulating their best and brightest to create the final destruction of the mutant race.
No one knows what the future holds, save that it will not be safe for anyone, human or mutant.
